Principles

The sand classifier SERSAB is used to desilt urban or industrial wastewater. It is able to extract 90% of sand grains whose diameter > is greater than 0.2mm, with organic matter contents of 10% at best.The sand classifier SERSAB is a separator in which the sand particles, or other heavy materials, contained in the raw water to be treated, sediment and are extracted from the bottom by an inclined Archimedes’ screw, while the water is recovered in the upper part after having crossed a weir.

Advantages

Our different sand classifier SERSAB models can treat flows from 10 to 125 m3/h, for a sand extraction capacity from 0,15 to 2,2 m3/h. Simple devices that can operate without monitoring.

Design features

  • The main box is a hopper whose two lateral sides are tilted and join the trough of the extraction screw located in the lower part.
  • The input housing of the raw effluent to be treated, comprises a flow distributor which reduces turbulence in the device.
  • Sand falls towards the Archimedes’ screw, while clear water passes over the weir and flows into a chute.
  • The sand accumulated at the bottom is lifted by the Archimedes’ screw to the jetty at the top, located above the water level.
  • Once above the water level, water jets ensure the washing of the organics contained in the sand.

  • The axe less Archimedes’ screw is made of thick hard steel. It is driven by the gear motor located in the upper part.
  • The screw is set on three attrition plates, made of anti-abrasion stainless steel, welded to the bottom of the trough.
  • On its upper part, the trough is provided with a screwed cover.
  • The inlet and water outlet are provided with flanges.
  • A sand outlet chute is also provided.
  • An articulated hatch enables the operator to inspect the water outlet.
  • Until SERSAB 200 model, the geared motor is flanged-set. For larger models, the geared motor is mounted floating.
  • The device is equipped with support feet.
